About Democracy Arrow

Grassroots monitoring for the health of the American democracy.

My hope in creating Democracy Arrow is to re-frame the discussion from party platforms to a more unifying cause: to be governed by a healthy democracy; a democracy where the government obeys its own rules, elections are fair, elected officials build consensus across party lines to get things done, and justice is served without partiality.

The histogram on the home page will show that people from across the political spectrum actually agree on some really fundamental things that have gone awry in the U.S. government and political machinery. The health of our democracy is declining, but with a clear understanding of what makes a healthy democracy, we can do something about it.

The way forward is not to beat the other party into submission, but to strengthen the foundations of a system which allows us to hold differing opinions in the first place.

For further reading on the health and decline of democracies, I recommend the Wikipedia article on Democratic Backsliding.
